DAT Test Registration
Students wishing to take The Dental Admission Testing can register themselves through Internet or through mail. To register online candidates have to visit the official DAT website https://www.ada.org . Application forms are available along with the DAT Program booklet, which also contains models of four examinations and directions for acquiring a computerized tutorial ($10), is obtainable through the students’ pre-health advisor. Examinees who are applying for the DAT can apply online using a credit card. Applications are short listed on the Tuesdays of every week, hence students have to submit their applications in the office by Monday noon central time to be processed that next day. paper application, fees are only payable by Incomplete or incorrect applications will not be processed and returned to the students. Payment for online registration is through credit cad and for applications submitted through mail payments can be made through certified check or money order. Cash or personal checks are not accepted with an exception for ADA or ASDA members who are required print their membership number on the check.
Once the processing of the application and fee payment are completed a notification of the students eligibility to take the DAT exam are sent to the Thompson Prometric National Registration Center by the following Friday. The Computerized DAT is administered by Thompson Prometric directs the DAT test through its centers situated throughout U.S. Usually a letter informing the student of their approval to take the test is sent once the processing is complete.
As soon as the student receives his approval letter, he has to call the 800-number provided in the letter to register with the Thompson Prometric National Registration Center for the DAT and arrange the day, time, and place to take the DAT at a Prometric Testing Center. It is crucial that the students call and confirm their registration immediately since the scheduling of the test has to be completed at least 4 hours before the commencing of the test. If a student wishes to retake the test he should submit a new application form along with the full fees. There is no restriction on the number of times a student takes the DAT. The students have to wait a compulsory 90day time limit before retaking the test.
The score sheet contains the four most recent DAT scores and the number of attempts made by the student. The scores sheets are sent to the dental schools listed by the student during registration. Students will have to complete the entire test; i.e. all four sections of the test have to be completed in order for the students to receive the full score report. Incase of a student failing to take one or more sections of the DAT, the student would receive a score sheet with the grading of zero for the section not taken by him.
