CBEST STRUCTURE

The student is required to pass each of the three section of the test to pass the entire CBEST. Whether the student takes all three sections at one sitting or takes one or two sections at a time depends on the potential of the test giver. The applicant is allowed to make as many attempts as he wishes to take. All the questions of the section or sections have to be answered by the student. The score range for all three sections are 20 to 80 and that of the entire CBEST is 60-240. The Reading and writing section each contain 50 multiple choices questions and requires a minimum score of 37 in each section. The Writing section comprises of 2 essays of which one is a Personal essay and the other an Analytical essay. Both the essays have to be completed in this section. The minimum score for this section is also 37 points. The total score of all three sections should not be below 123 points. The CBEST is available only in the paper based format.
