CBEST Test Registration
Students can register for the CBEST test through the Internet or U.S. Mail or through telephone.
REGISTRATION THROUGH INTERNET
Registration through Internet for taking the CBEST is available on the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, during all registration periods. The registration has to be completed before 5:00 p.m. Pacific time on the regular, late, and emergency registration deadline dates. The student would be required to pay additional registration fee for applications submitted after the regular and late registration deadlines
The reviewing of the “Registration Checklist” is mandatory for the student to make sure that he has all of the information needed to complete the registration process. The law requires that only the applicants register through the internet for the test. Incase of appeal for a substitute testing arrangement, the student is required to present his request along with the documents required through mail or by fax before the registration deadline. Requests submitted after the deadline period may not be accommodated due to constrains in space, time and staff. The student can register by visiting the website www.cbest.nesinc.com and selecting the “Register Now” option and follow the instructions provided there. It is better to keep the student’s e-mail address, social security number, and credit card information (number, expiration date, and name of cardholder) handy to fill in the details correctly. The name of the applicant should be entered in the same format as it appears on the government-issued identification.
Payments for internet registration can be made either through a credit card (VISA or MasterCard only) or a debit or check card that carries the VISA or MasterCard logo and can be used without the entry of the personal identification number (PIN). The student is required to pay additional charges for late and emergency registration. For total information regarding registration fees and payment policies the student should visit the Test Fees and Payment Policies web page on the CBEST website. Once the registration is complete a confirmation mail is sent within the time period of one business day to the student’s email address. The Registration is considered as complete only when the mail is received by the student. The admission ticket for the assigned test site will also be sent to the applicants email address. The students are required to take printouts of the admission ticket for admission into the exam halls on the test dates and for filing of records.
REGISTRATION THROUGH MAIL
Only regular and late registration periods are permitted for registrations through mail. To registration through mail the student has to adhere to the admission deadline. Incase of delay the student’s registration form will be returned unprocessed or Incur the late payment fee for registration under the circumstances of availability of seats in the test centers. If the delay is caused due to postal mishap the student will be assigned the next available date of the CBEST test. All these factors are determined through the Postmark on the registration material. Incase of late registrations the students have to submit the registration form and payment, including the late registration fee before 5:00 p.m. Pacific time on the last date of late registration deadline.
The law requires that only the applicant who wishes to take the CBEST submit his registration. The student should analyze the
“Registration Checklist/” to make sure that all of the information needed to complete the registration process has been provided. Incase the student needs to make an alternative testing arrangement he should submit his request along with the required documents and the registration form through mail. The arrangement for the alternative testing arrangement can also be faxed separately before the expiry of registration deadline. There is no guarantee that the requests of registrations received after the dead line may not be accommodated due to space, staff, and time constraints. The student should complete the registration form by following the instructions listed on the form. The registration form can either be obtained as a printed registration bulletin or be ordered by visiting the website of CBEST and selecting “Print Bulletin and Forms (PDF)” option provided for this purpose.
The correct name of the applicant as it appears in the government issued identification should be provided on the registration form. Incase of applying from outer states, the students should enter OC for a state code. If the applicant does not have a social security number the space provided for it should be left blank. Since the registration form is processed by a computer photo copy or the fax of the registration form would not be accepted. The completely filled in forms, duly signed by the applicant along with the correct payment should be mailed in the envelope provided for registration. The test dates deadlines along with the score report dates could be found on the “Test Dates” web page. For students mailing the registration form very close to the submission deadline provision of the U.S. Postal Service expedited delivery services is available to ensure that the form reaches before the submission deadline. The delivery address is usually to a post office box number and the address can be found on the CBEST “Contact Information” link.
The students are provided with choice of the payment options of personal check, cashier’s check, or money order. Personal checks are accepted only during the regular registration period. Any additional charges levied for late registration and the complete information on registration fees and payments are available on the “Test Fees and Payment Policies” link of the CBEST website.
The admission ticket along with the details of the assigned test site would be sent to the student within one week of submission of registration. Incase of not receiving the above details the student should contact the NES.
If the student’s registration form is incomplete or illegible or if the correct payment is not enclosed the registration materials will be returned unprocessed with a letter advising him of his error and the deadline by which the corrected materials must be submitted for registration. This would cause the student to incur an additional registration fees or a delay in his test date. If the unprocessed registration is received after the late registration deadline, the student may still be able to register during the emergency registration period. Nevertheless, all emergency registration rules, including the registration options and fees, will apply. To avoid such complexities of situations the students are advised to be extra careful while filling and submitting their registration forms.
TELEPHONE REGISTRATION
Telephonic Registration is possible only for late and emergency registration periods. The selection of the test areas is highly limited for emergency registrations. The student may find the lines busy during the start and end of the day and hence are advised to try during less hectic hours or try registering through the internet. The requires that applicant reviews and ensures that he has completed all the procedures required form submitting the registration. The “Registration Checklist” may come in handy during this process.
Registration can be completed by calling the NES at (916) 928-4001, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. The student should give his full and correct name as it appears on his government-issued identification. It is better to have a pen or pencil and paper available while placing the call to take down the details that will be provided. The details about your responsibilities and specific information about the test administration, such as your reporting time and the test site address will be provided to the student during this call. There is no need for submission of registration form once the registration is completed. In case of submission of such forms it will not be processed or returned to the student.

The student receiving the admission ticket through mail is the Confirmation that the registration had been processed.
