Results Notification and Score Report
Once the candidate completes the computer-based exam he would receive his scores immediately in a printed format. Candidates can also access their test results through PMI’s web-based Certification System 5-7 days after the exam date (6-8 weeks for candidates who take a paper-based exam).
PMI score reports are indicative by nature and contains apart from confirming the pass/fail status of the candidate a percentage breakdown of performance by process group (performance domain). Every on of the six performance domains contains a diverse number of questions and is characterized on a percentage that is comparative to, but not equal to, the other domains.
Hand scoring for the paper-based test is available up to six months after the administration. The fee for hand scoring is $45 [US]. Additional information can be had by emailing the PMI via e-mail to customercare@pmi.org or by phone at +1-610-356-4600, option 8. PMI does not tender hand scoring for computer-based tests.
Candidates who pass the PMP certification exam will have their name added to PMI’s registry of credentialed persons. The certificate package of the candidate containing the official PMI Certification Program certificate, the PMP pin, and information on the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program will me mailed in approximately 6-8 weeks after passing the exam.
The passing score for the PMP examination is established through a standard referenced approach called the Modified Angoff Technique. This is a standard industry practice, which relies on the arrangement of actual data and the collective decision of groups of individuals from around the globe who hold the PMP credential.
To pass the PMP examination the candidate must answer a minimum of 106 correctly out of the 175 score questions. There is no negative marking in the exam. Unanswered questions are treated as wrong answers. Examination scores are kept confidential. About 80% candidates clear the exam.
