OAT Test Fee

The cost of the OAT exam is $189 (2006), which covers the exam fee as well as sending test scores to 5 optometry schools of the student’ choice. There is a $15.00 fee levied on the student for each additional school that the student wishes to send the OAT report. The registration fees are not refundable or transferable. All fees are payable in U.S. dollars only.

Students registering for the OAT online OAT and would like to receive their score sheets online have to make their payments only through a Visa or MasterCard credit card. The credit card statement will list the charge for these services as “ADA.org or Optometry Test”.

Students suffering severe financial constraints are eligible to receive a partial fee waiver for the OAT. The student gets a 50% off from the test fees including the five official transcript reports. There is the customary charge for all transcripts beyond five. To avail this special facility the student will have to submit a request in writing along with the filled in financial information form while presenting the application form. The application along with the pre-optometry advisor's letter should be submitted at least two months before the testing date. The Optometry Admission Testing Program will review all fee waiver requests that the final decision of whether to grant a student a fee waiver or not.

Since there are only very few limited fee waivers are available they are granted on a first-come basis to eligible students who have submitted their request along with the completed OAT application, completed fee waiver financial information form and letter from their pre-optometry advisor. Student’s who had received a fee waiver once will not be eligible to apply for the same in their following attempts. The fees once paid are not refundable or transferable to another person.
